ORS Awards
[Note that ORS Awards will be phased out completely by 2010/2011.]
Candidates from Australia applying for a course of research leading to the degree of PhD are eligible to be considered for Overseas Research Studentship (ORS) awards, paid for by Her Majesty’s Government and administered by Universities UK. These awards paid the difference between the higher overseas fees rate and the lower domestic fees rate of the University Composition Fee for overseas students of high academic calibre and research potential who win one of these highly competitive awards. Candidates who are eligible for ORS awards should complete and return the ORS form to the Board of Graduate Studies no later than 15 December each year. See the Graduate Studies Prospectus for further information.

Candidates can download the ORS form via: http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/offices/gradstud

While these are the offical deadlines for GAF, SAF and ORS it is important that applicants consult the Graduate Studies Perspective for any specific Departmental requirements and deadlines. Departments can set their own earlier deadlines for receipt of the GAF, some of which may be as early as mid-October.

Applicants for one year postgraduate courses at Cambridge should consider applying for British Government Chevening Scholarships.

All of the above forms should be sent to the Board of Graduate Studies.

N.B. All closing dates should be checked early in the application process, as they are subject to change.
